What is KARAKANA?

KARAKANA is a rack of modelled analogue units for macOS, in AU and VST3, plus a standalone app. Load any of 13 modelled units into six slots in series: valve preamp, programme EQ, vari-mu, opto, class-A channel, discrete channel, FET limiter, VCA bus, broadcast amp, console bus, tape, plate and mastering EQ. Each one is solved from its circuit, and every unit runs oversampled.

What it does

13 units, 6 slots

Any unit in any slot, in series. Swapping a unit crossfades over 15 ms.

Solved from the circuit

Component values set each unit's filter poles, zeros, resonances and phase.

Two real channels

On serials 2 to 8, left and right carry their own component values. Each serial restores the same pair of parts.

Always oversampled

Units run at 176.4 kHz or higher through linear-phase resampling, so transients keep their shape.

Honest latency

68 samples at 48 kHz with an empty rack and 112 with Tape, always reported to your host.
