Terms

How buying from SIMLAF works, and the rules for using this website.

Last updated 17 October 2026. These terms cover this website and buying SIMLAF products. Your use of the software itself is covered by the licence agreement.

1. Who we are

SIMLAF (“SIMLAF”, “we”, “us”) makes software. Its audio division, SIMLAF Audio, makes instruments, effects and a DAW for music production. You can reach us at hello@simlaf.com.

2. Using this website

You may browse this website, download free products and trials offered on it, and share links to it. Please do not copy its text, images or design for other products, interfere with how it works, or try to access parts of it that are not public.

We work to keep every specification and price on this website accurate. If we find a mistake, we will correct it. If a mistake affects an order you have placed, we will contact you before anything else happens, and you can cancel for a full refund.

3. How buying works

Orders are processed by our reseller, who is the merchant of record for every purchase. That means:

  • the reseller sells the product to you and takes your payment;
  • the reseller calculates, charges and pays any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live;
  • the reseller issues your receipt or invoice and handles payment questions and refunds on our behalf;
  • at checkout you will also see, and accept, the reseller’s own terms of sale and privacy notice.

SIMLAF remains responsible for the software, your licence, updates and product support. We never see or store your full card details.

4. Prices

Prices are shown in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT, where it applies, is calculated by the reseller at checkout based on where you live, and is shown before you pay.

Each price on this website is a one-time price for a perpetual licence to the current major version of the product. There are no subscriptions.

The Whole Studio launch price. The Whole Studio costs $199 until 31 January 2027. From 1 February 2027 it costs $399. This date is fixed and will not be extended or reset. A price change never affects an order that has already been placed.

5. Free trials

Every product can be tried free for 14 days before you buy. A trial never turns into a paid purchase by itself: you are only charged if you choose to buy. When the trial period ends, the trial stops working until a licence is activated. A pre-order can't be tried before it is delivered, which is why it can be cancelled for a full refund until then.

6. Delivery

Products are delivered digitally. After your purchase you receive a download link and your licence details by email. Activation needs an internet connection once per computer; after that the software works offline. The full rules are in the licence agreement.

Pre-orders. When a product is sold as a pre-order, the delivery date is shown on its page and at checkout, and your licence details arrive with your order. If we cannot deliver on that date, we email you as soon as we know, with a new date, and you can cancel for a full refund at any time before delivery. The full terms are in the refund policy.

7. Updates

Updates within a major version (for example, every 1.x release after 1.0) are free. A new major version may be offered as a paid upgrade. Buying a product never obliges you to buy an upgrade.

8. Products that are not released yet

Products marked “Coming January 2027” cannot be bought yet, and release dates are our current plans. The Whole Studio includes SIMLAF 2, KAMILI and KARAKANA at no extra cost: if you buy The Whole Studio, you receive SIMLAF 2, KAMILI and KARAKANA when each is released, whenever that is.

9. System requirements

Current products run on macOS 10.13 or later; built for Intel and Apple Silicon (Apple Silicon testing in progress). Windows versions are planned for December 2026, with Linux and mobile apps to follow. Each product page lists the plug-in formats it comes in. Please use the free trial to confirm a product works on your system before you buy.

10. Refunds

Refunds are covered by our refund policy. In short: if a product does not work on your system, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase, or of delivery for a pre-order. A pre-order can be cancelled for a full refund at any time before delivery.

11. Intellectual property

The SIMLAF name, the product names, the software, and this website’s text, images and design belong to SIMLAF or its licensors. Buying a product gives you a licence to use it as described in the licence agreement; it does not transfer ownership of the software.

12. Liability

We provide this website and our products with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost work, arising from the use of this website or our products, and our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the country in which SIMLAF is registered. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add products or change how purchases are processed. The date at the top shows the latest version. The version that applies to a purchase is the one in force when you placed the order.
