SIMLAF

Legal

Licence

A per-user licence for up to 3 of your own computers. What you make with it is yours.

End-user licence agreement. Last updated 17 October 2026. By installing or using SIMLAF software, you agree to this agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

1. Definitions

“Software”
Any SIMLAF plug-in, application, installer, preset, rack, sound, impulse response, documentation or update you obtain from SIMLAF or its reseller.
“You”
The individual person to whom the licence is issued.
“Your computers”
Computers that you own or that are provided for your own use, such as a work computer assigned to you.

2. The licence we grant you

When you buy a product, SIMLAF grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software for that product, for personal and commercial work, subject to this agreement. The Software is licensed, not sold.

  • Per user. The licence belongs to one person. Other people may not use your licence. A studio, school or company needs one licence for each person who uses the Software.
  • Up to 3 computers. You may install and activate the Software on up to 3 of your own computers at a time.

3. Activation

Each installation must be activated once over the internet. After activation the Software works offline. To move a licence to a different computer when all 3 activations are in use, deactivate it on a computer you no longer use, or write to hello@simlaf.com and we will help.

You may not bypass, disable or interfere with activation or licence checks.

4. Trials and free products

Trial versions may be used for 14 days to evaluate the Software. Free products, such as SIMLAF Spectral Free, are licensed to you free of charge under this agreement. You may not sell, rent or redistribute trial or free versions; please share a link to this website instead.

5. What you make is yours

Audio and music you create with the Software belong to you. You may use, release, sell and license them without paying SIMLAF anything and without crediting SIMLAF. This includes audio made with the factory presets, racks and sounds.

What you may not do is distribute the presets, racks, sounds, impulse responses or other content of the Software on their own or as part of a collection (for example as a preset pack or sample library), whether free or for sale.

6. Restrictions

Except where the law expressly allows it, you may not:

  • copy the Software, except for installation on your computers and for backup;
  • share, publish or sell licence details or activations;
  • rent, lend, lease or sublicense the Software;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or modify the Software;
  • remove or alter any notice of ownership in the Software.

7. Updates and upgrades

Updates within the major version you bought are free and are covered by this agreement. A new major version may be offered as a paid upgrade. We may update this agreement for new major versions; the version that applies is the one shipped with the version you install.

8. Transfer

Licences cannot be transferred to another person without our written agreement. If you want to transfer a licence, write to hello@simlaf.com.

9. Ownership

SIMLAF and its licensors keep all rights, title and interest in the Software, including all intellectual property. Any rights not expressly granted in this agreement are reserved.

10. Third-party components

The Software may include third-party components that are provided under their own licences. Those licences are listed in the documentation installed with the Software, and they apply to those components.

11. Ending the licence

This licence lasts until it ends. It ends automatically if you break this agreement, or if your purchase is refunded. When it ends, you must stop using the Software and uninstall it. Sections 5, 9, 12, 13 and 14 continue to apply after the licence ends.

12. Warranty

We build and test the Software carefully, and we offer a free 14-day trial so you can check it on your system before you buy. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the Software is provided “as is”, without any other warranty, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in this agreement removes rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, SIMLAF is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost work, arising from the use of the Software, and SIMLAF’s total liability under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Nothing in this agreement limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the law of the country in which SIMLAF is registered. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
